I have a quote up on my mini-bulletin board next to my bed titled "Most Richly Blessed". Every now and again I stop and take 30 seconds and read it, and I am always glad I did. I read it this morning, and thought I'd share it here on my somewhat desolate and rather neglected blog.
"Most Richly Blessed"
I asked God for strength, that I might achieve,
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health, that I might do greater things,
I was given infirmity, that I might to better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy,
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men,
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life,
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing I asked for--
but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my
unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among all men,
most richly blessed.

This little writing always puts things into perspective for me. That even when it seems like we aren't getting what we ask for, God still gives us good things. Things that benefit us, even when they seem like they can't.
Romans 8:28- (my favorite verse) "And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."
Regarding the unspoken prayers being answered, my brain then jumps to Garth Brooks' song "Unanswered Prayers"... "Some of God's greatest gifts, are all too often unanswered prayers"
I've also been wanting to share a list of movies that one of my favorite professors from Master's gave to us in our Senior Seminar class. He listed what he believed to be the greatest top 25 films of all time:
1) Citizen Kane (1941)
2) Casablanca (1943)
3) Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
4) Rear Window (1954)
5) High Noon (1952)
6) The Third Man (1949)
7) Dr. Strangelove (1964)
8) The Searchers (1956)
9) Das Boot (The Director's Cut) (1982)
10) Chinatown (1974)
11) The Seventh Seal (1958)
12) Sunset Boulevard (1950)
13) Schindler's List (1993)

I am sad to say that I've only seen a few of these movies, but I am going to make it a mission to see all of them within the next year!! I've heard of all of them, and a few I have wanted to see- like Chinatown, Charade, Memento-- but have yet to.
I'll pick up a value size box of popcorn next time I'm at the store!! :)
